On September 21, the 'First International Academic Conference on Fashion Communication and Fashion Industry Development,' co - sponsored by the Chinese Society of News History and Wuhan Textile University, was held at Wuhan Textile University. Nearly two hundred experts and scholars from nearly forty domestic and foreign universities, scientific research institutions and fashion enterprises such as Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tongji University, Shandong University, Renmin University of China, Xiamen University, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and University of Missouri gathered together to start an academic feast with the theme of 'Innovation and Integration: Digital Technology, Fashion Communication and Fashion Industry Development.' Fu Xin, vice - president of Wuhan Textile University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Teachers and students of the School of Media in Wuhan Textile University, heads of the School of Management, the School of Clothing and related functional departments of the school attended the meeting together. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Wang Haijun, dean of the School of Media in Wuhan Textile University.
A total of 92 papers and abstracts were received for this conference, with the establishment of 2 scholar sub-forums and 2 graduate student sub-forums. There were 8 specially invited plenary reports, and Professor Zhang Yuyan from the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri and Alessandro Peluso from the University of Salento in Italy were invited to give online academic reports. Experts and scholars attending the conference engaged in constructive discussions on themes such as fashion communication and social governance, fashion communication theory and textile culture, digital technology and visual arts, fashion brands and communication strategies, focusing on the construction of the fashion communication system, theoretical interpretation, and practical approaches.
At the opening ceremony, Fu Xin extended a warm welcome and sincere thanks to all the experts and scholars on behalf of the school. He introduced to the participants the characteristic features of education, the layout of disciplines at Wuhan Textile University in recent years, and the significant achievements made in serving the country's major strategies and local economic development. He hoped that through exploring the interactive relationship between fashion and communication, and tapping into the potential of fashion communication in promoting socio-economic development and enhancing cultural soft power, the participating scholars would spark wisdom, provide strategic support for promoting global fashion communication and the development of the fashion industry, and contribute wisdom and strength to comprehensively improve the construction level of our school's fashion communication discipline and the quality of talent cultivation.
Professor Wang Runze, president of the Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Communication, executive director of the Research Center for Journalism and Social Development, a key base of humanities and social sciences under the Ministry of Education, and vice dean of the School of Journalism at Renmin University of China, delivered a video speech at the opening ceremony. On behalf of the Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Communication, she fully affirmed the work done by the School of Media and Communication at Wuhan Textile University in the process of hosting the conference. She believes that with the innovative fashion expression of Chinese cultural elements on the international stage, the research field of 'fashion communication' has great potential. She hopes that the experts and scholars attending the conference can summarize the phenomenon of fashion communication, deeply refine the original issues, sort out the key concepts and theoretical systems, and ultimately construct an independent knowledge system for the discipline of journalism and communication in China.
In the morning, during the conference's keynote session, Professor Zhao Zhenxiang, Vice President of the Chinese Society of News History and Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Xiamen University, delivered a report titled 'Problems Faced by Fashion Innovation and Dissemination under the Background of AIGC Technology'; Professor Qiang Yuexin, Vice Chairman of the Higher Education Journalism Discipline Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education and Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Wuhan University, gave a report titled 'The Evolutionary Logic and Practical Approach of New Themed Media'; Professor Rong Jianhua from the School of Media and Communication at Wuhan Textile University presented a report titled 'Challenges and Strategies for the International Dissemination of Chinese Audiovisual New Media in the Algorithm Era'; Chen Chao, Executive President of Shandong Ruyi Technology Group, made a report titled 'Practice in the Construction of Textile and Apparel Brands'; Professor Li Huajun, Associate Dean of the School of Journalism and Information Communication at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, delivered a report titled 'Application Practice, Value Characteristics, and Prospective Development of Virtual Digital Humans in Brand Communication'; Professor Zhao Chunhua from the School of Fashion Communication at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology gave a report titled 'Digital Transformation and Multimedia Integration of Fashion Communication Empowered by Technology'; Professor Zhang Yuyan from the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri presented a report titled 'Revisiting the Image Repair Theory of Buonoi: Research Trends and Exploration of Effective Strategies Based on Typical Cases of Crisis Communication'; Wei Zhe, General Manager of Beijing Zhongke Dayang Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd., shared a report titled 'Empowering All-Media Applications with AIGC'. The keynote session was co-chaired by Dean Wang Haijun of the School of Media and Communication at Wuhan Textile University and Professor Qi Zhijia from the School of Fashion.
In the afternoon, at the sub-forum of the conference, participating scholars shared and exchanged ideas on fashion communication theory and innovative practice. Professor Liao Shengwu from Hubei University, Professor Chen Wei from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Zuo Lijuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhongyuan University of Technology, Associate Professor Chen Yali from Jiangxi Normal University, Executive Editor-in-Chief Liu Jiangtao of 'Learning and Practice' magazine, and Associate Professors Ma Qing, Yuan Bing, and Xiong Lei from Wuhan Textile University jointly hosted and commented. The conference was broadcasted live simultaneously, with more than 7,000 views of this academic event's visual feast.
After the commentators of each sub-forum reported the main research viewpoints of the scholars in their respective groups, Professor Zhao Zhenxiang, vice president of the Chinese Society of News History, delivered the closing speech. He thanked the organizing committee for their meticulous preparation and careful arrangements, presenting a successful and high-level conference for everyone. At this academic exchange meeting, the submitted papers were of high quality, with cutting-edge topics, scientific and novel research methods, and credible conclusions. He looked forward very much to the next conference.
