In cooperation with a number of universities, including the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts in Germany, we have been working together for more than ten years to develop international collaborative higher education research combining science and art. This exhibition is one of the fruits of the many years of international teaching cooperation.
The participating experts fully affirmed the quality of the works on display and the significance of this academic exchange event with an international perspective on the cultural exchange between China and Germany. This large-scale international education and teaching reform is an effective and successful attempt to explore a new way of teaching and learning reform with an international model through cultural exchange and creative interaction, in order to achieve the interaction of teaching results by young students.
Ms. Xiong Ju from the School of Media&Communication briefly introduced the design ideology and design methodology of the Hubei hybrid first-class course "City Information Visualization Design". She emphasized that the course focuses on the innovative application of knowledge, inspiring students to explore and practice a new information presentation design of digital media art by means of empowering media, linking with the six human perception systems, and re-editing the language of artistic modeling. She also introduced the German "meta-planning" teaching method, guiding students to learn by doing, fostering team-based learning and participatory learning, emphasizing students' understanding of society, focusing on social development and cultivating students’ correct values, and enhancing students' national pride and self-confidence through international exchange, which was well received by students. Representatives from the School of Media&Communication's Digital Media Arts student team gave presentations in English on online exhibition management, technology, design methods, my favorite works, team division of labor and collaboration, online data platforms, blended learning models, and online guided tours.
This blended international teaching approach and exchange of exhibition activities not only gave the students a great deal of enthusiasm for creativity, but also benefited them throughout the preparation and organization of the exhibition event from offline to online. Through this exhibition practice, the students were able to link all the professional qualities of their digital media art studies. Moreover, through the art exchange and exhibition, they gained confidence in cultural exchange.
